Patricia A. "Patsy" Anderson, 62, of Sioux City, IA passed away at a Sioux City hospital on Sunday, March 3, 2013.Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Patsy was born on October 24, 1950 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Milo and Mary Lou (Merchant) Anderson. She grew up on a farm near Ponca, NE and attended rural schools through 8th grade. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1968. Patsy attended Briar Cliff and Morningside Colleges, earning her bachelor's degree. She worked for Zenith Industries and Gateway in customer service, and as a caregiver at several care facilities.Patsy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. She enjoyed reading, gardening, researching and composing recipes on the internet and spending time at family activities, and with her son, Justin.Survivors include her son, Justin Winfrey and his girlfriend, Tamara Bennet of Sioux City, IA; parents, Milo and Mary Lou Anderson of Ponca, NE; siblings, Karen (Bob) Huls of Spirit Lake, IA, Linda (Wally) Bensen of Maskell, NE, Ray (Karen) Anderson of Ponca, NE, Ralph (Cindy) Anderson of Roca, NE and John (Lisa) Anderson of Sioux City, IA; her companion, Gary Patton of Sioux City, IA; two nieces; seven nephews ; several great-nieces and nephews; uncle, Marlan Millard of Hubbard, NE; and aunt, Betty Anderson of Palmira, MO.Patsy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marvin and Margaret Merchant and Ole and Hilda Anderson; and many aunts and uncles.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made for diabetes research and education.
