Patricia (Pattie) Marie Detches, 41 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away last week at her residence.A Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 03, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be at Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca at a later date. Patricia was born on October 01, 1966 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Zona (Grillett) Kayl. She grew up in the Winnebago, Nebraska area, where she attended Winnebago High School until moving to rural Ponca. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1985. She then moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she continued to live.Pattie was a wonderful mother to her three children, Nathan Detches, Audrey Detches and Brian Detches, all of Sioux City, Iowa. She loved spending time with her children, which was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved her children and would do anything for them. She was always there for them. When her children would introduce her to their friends they would always say, "This is mom, or you can call her Pattie." In time, everyone would come to simply call her "Mom." She was loved by everyone who came to know her, especially for her great personality and one of the biggest grins a person could have. Pattie always had a smile for anyone and everyone. We love you and you will be greatly missed.Survivors include her mother, Zona Kayl of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Nathan and Brian, and a daughter, Audrey of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ray and Pam Kayl of McCook Lake, South Dakota, Tom and Angela Kayl of Morningside, Terry and Rita Rose of Sioux City, Iowa; brother, Joseph "JJ" Kayl of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Veronica Free of Winnebago, Nebraska; sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Dan Gleseter of Cleveland, Ohio; four nephews and four nieces.She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Kayl of Ponca, Nebraska and a brother, Owen "Tubby" Rose, also of Ponca, Nebraska, who always used to say, "What's up ugly."
