Paul S. Johnson, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Holy Spirit Retirement Community after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor James Travis and Pastor Alex Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Entombment will be in the Logan Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Paul was born on September 26, 1936 to Thomas and Elizabeth Johnson. He attended school in Wayne, Nebraska and went to Wayne State College. On June 24, 1956, he married Jeanette Wegner. They lived several years in Wayne, Hoskins, and Tilden, Nebraska, before moving to Sioux City in 1965. Paul taught school for many years. He also worked part-time in the produce department at Fareway, both in Morningside and the Northside.

Paul had many hobbies which included pheasant hunting, officiating youth sports, and belonging to an antique car club. He enjoyed big family gatherings all his life.

Paul is survived by his son Tom (Lula) Johnson of Easton, KS; daughter Judy (Eric) Johansen of Sioux City; brother-in-law Albert Wegner of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Jesse (Katie) Johnson, Jeremy (Amy Jo) Johnson, and Kaile (Amy) Johansen, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, his parents, brothers and sister, and great-granddaughter Jaycee Jo.

The family would like to thank Holy Spirit and St. Croix Hospice for the care they gave our dad.
