Paul K. Michelson, 81 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 12, 2008.Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Pastor Nancy Leonard officiating. Burial was in the Ponca City Cemetery in Ponca, Nebraska.Paul was born in Thurman, Iowa on October 28, 1926, the son of Ralph and Beatrice (Haynie) Michelson. He attended school in Omaha, Nebraska. He entered the Navy at the early age of 17. He was a tree surgeon for the City of Omaha. While there he earned his doctorate. He was then an over the road truck driver and IBP maintenance mechanic, until he retired. He then went back to work with Wells Fargo and Loomis Fargo driving armored cars. He retired for a second time, then decided to work part time driving school buses for South Sioux City, which he enjoyed tremendously.Paul was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a Union member of IBP.Paul enjoyed working on cars, camping with family, fishing with the grandkids and sitting on the patio watching the world go by.Survivors include his wife, Bonita (Polkinghorn) Michelson of South Sioux City, Nebraska; one son Mark and his wife Rita Michelson of South Sioux City, Nebraska; one daughter Melonie and her husband Terry Loutsch of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Joshua, Brady, Meghan and Morgan; two sisters, Jean Kessler of Valley, Nebraska and Mary Lou Shaw of Deming, New Mexico; one brother, Carroll Michelson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a half sister and brother, Alice Haston and Danny Michelson, both of Delaware, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Christopher Michelson; one brother, Jack Michelson; one sister-in-law, Carol Michelson and three brother-in-law, Reesal Haston, Dwain Shaw and Al Kessler.
