Paul William Stoneburg, 70, of Sioux City went into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2021 following a brief illness.
A private family service will be held on January 30, 2021. A public celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Paul was born to Robert and Lena Stoneburg of Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1968 and attended Wayne State College for one year.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Corbin, on January 10, 1970. The two just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
He served in the 185th National Guard from 1969-1976.
Paul worked for many years at Glidden Paint, followed by employment with Northwest Airlines, and then the Sioux City Airport from which he retired in 2016.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved helping with their Personal Care Cupboard.
He deeply loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities and hobbies. Paul loved watching all sports, fishing, grilling, and helping neighbors and friends.
He will be greatly missed for his loving and generous heart.
Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Stoneburg; two children, Jenny (Scott) Bennetts of Jenison, Michigan, and Mike Stoneburg of Holland, Michigan; three grandchildren, Gabriella, Corbin, and Samantha Bennetts: sister, Roberta (Bob) Rahn; three sisters-in-laws, Cathy (Sonny) Murphy, Patty (Claude) Rains, and Susie (Pete) Corbin Muir, and two brothers-in-law, Paul Corbin, and Mike (Val) Corbin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lena Stoneburg; and his brother, Robert Stoneburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Siouxland.
