Pauline V. Jensen, 95, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Stephen S. Niles officiating. Burial will be in the Obert Cemetery in Obert, NE. Visitation with the family present will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.Pauline was born on October 25, 1921 in Newcastle, NE, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Blatchford) Nielsen. She graduated from Obert High School in Obert, NE and attended Wayne State College. She taught 1st through 8th grade in a one-room country school near Obert. Pauline married Vernon Jensen on December 29, 1941. They resided in Cedar County until 1966, when they moved to South Sioux City, NE. She worked as a Social Service Worker in Cedar County, then Dakota County, retiring when she was 67. Upon her retirement she taught ESL at Western Iowa Tech. in Sioux City, IA. In 2004 they moved to Dakota Dunes, SD. Vernon passed away on February 11, 2011.Pauline loved to visit and tell stories. She also enjoyed cooking, embroidery work and her passion for playing the piano. She touched so many lives.Survivors include 3 daughters, Lori Sorum of Dakota Dunes, SD, Sheryle Jensen-Osgood (Bill) of Littleton, CO, Paulette Delperdang (Doug) of Dakota Dunes, SD; 1 son, Jim Jensen (Carla) of Dakota Dunes, SD; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Nielsen (Starr) of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law, Marvin Jensen of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Jensen; son-in-law, Bob Sorum; her parents, Walter and Florence Nielsen; and a brother and sister-in-law, Delmar and Eleanor Nielsen.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
