Pauline Mary Schieffer

June 7, 1927 — November 22, 2019

Pauline Mary (Rush) Schieffer, 92 of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Cathedral of the Epiphany, St. Boniface Worship Site with burial to follow at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, Nebraska.  Visitation will be on Friday, November 29th at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Pauline, daughter of Dan and Celia (Curran) Rush, was born on June 7, 1927 on the family farm near Ponca, Nebraska. She attended Ponca High School, graduating in May of 1944, and married Duane Schieffer in 1946. 

Pauline worked as a retail clerk and as a C.N.A.  She lived in Colorado for a number of years until her retirement.  Pauline returned to the Sioux City area to take care of her father on the farm.

Pauline enjoyed doing volunteer work, socializing with her friends and family, traveling, and her strong Catholic faith.  Her sense of humor brought laughter and joy into the lives of many.  She was a member of St. Boniface Church for many years.

Pauline’s last few years were spent at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: daughter Marcy (Ted)Evans of Alamo, Texas and their daughters Kristina (Kevin) Train and Kathleen (Jim) Price ; daughter Shirley (Rod) Cline of Billings, Montana  and her daughter, Kelly (Louis) McBernie :  son-in-law Robert Yost of Santa Barbara, California: son John Schieffer, of Kalispell, Montana and his children Teresa, Duane (Callie) Schieffer, Shasta, and Chelsey Schieffer: great-grandchildren Nathan, Braxton, Gabby, Morgan and Mia: sisters Dorothy Landry of Sioux City, Iowa, Mildred Burns of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Sr. Delores Rush of Yankton, South Dakota and Carole Rush-Barr of Tilden, Nebraska: and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul Bernard, Patrick and Vern, and daughter Mary in 2012.
