Phillip D. Bertrand

Phillip D. Bertrand, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial will be at a later date at Logan Park Cemetery.  

Phillip was born the son of Martin and Joyce (Rosenbaum) Bertrand on July 22, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa.  His birth mother died at a young age.  He was lovingly raised by his mom, Gloria Goodwin. Phil graduated from Jefferson High School and attended college in Springfield, South Dakota.  After his schooling, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force at the 185^th.  He spent time serving in Vietnam.  Phil married the love of his life, Scherry Sullivan on April 6, 1991.  They were blessed with a son, Nick.

Phil helped his dad on the family farm in Jefferson for many years.  He also drove truck for 20 years and then worked for Gateway and Iams in North Sioux City.

He enjoyed making stained glass and leather work.  He liked to fish and mushroom hunt and spend time with his family.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Scherry Bertrand of Sioux City; children, Nick Bertrand of Sioux City, Brad (Tara) Bertrand of Sioux City, Bryan (Tiffany) Bertrand of Brandon, Tiffany Bertrand of Sioux City, Lisa (TJ) Hansel of Dakota Dunes, Kary Dean of Spirit Lake, and Vern (Tynna) Sullivan of Omaha; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 3 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha; and 1 niece.
