Rachel Particia LaScala

Rachel Patricia LaScala, 95, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on November 8, 2021.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, at Mater Dei Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Bradley Pelzel as Celebrant.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Rachel was born on April 29, 1926, the daughter of Pedro and Soledad (Becera) Bata.  Rachel was married to the love of her life, Frank Robert LaScala on February 12, 1944.  The couple were married for 50 years and resided in Sioux City.  Frank passed on March 13, 1994.  Rachel was a housewife and loving mother.  She enjoyed cooking and could make anything taste great.  Rachel was strong and caring until the end and was adored by all who knew her.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Carla Jeanne Ellis of Harlingen, TX, Robert J. (Mary) LaScala of Superior, WI, son-in-law, Frank Merchant of Omaha, NE, Frank G. (April) LaScala of Sioux City, IA; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank R. LaScala; daughters Rena M. Merchant and Patricia A. Schultz, and her six siblings.
