Ponca, Nebraska

Randy Ray Stark, 70 of rural Ponca, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at a nursing facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Pastor Chuck Stanga officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 14th at the church, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Mohr Funeral Home of Ponca is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for later gifting to Ava’s House of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and/or Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Randy was born on September 26, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa to Fred and Frances “Bonnie” (Armstrong) Stark. He graduated from Ponca Public School with the Class of 1972 and furthered his education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Randy married Rhonda Hansen on February 9, 1985 in Ponca, Nebraska; to this union, two children were born, Brent and Holly. 

Randy farmed in rural Ponca, Nebraska. He also worked for Interstate Batteries and worked for Evan Uthof. Randy was a proud member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. He coached Martinsburg boys’ baseball, served on Township Board and Highland Oaks Golf Course Board, where he helped organize Highland Oaks Farmers Open. Randy’s greatest joy was his family, including his nieces and nephews. His passion was farming, along with golf, and Nebraska Football. Randy loved animals and anything outdoors. He would help anyone anytime.

Randy is survived by his wife Rhonda; son Brent Stark of Jackson, Nebraska; daughter Holly (John) Gregg of Ponca, Nebraska; grandchildren Caidan, Harper & Taylor Gregg; siblings Patricia (Bill) Barth of Pierson, Iowa, Venita (Gary) Wilcox of Correctionville, Iowa, and Alfred (Linda) Stark of Lincoln, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
