Raymond Allan Herbst

Raymond Allan Herbst, 93, of Merrill, IA, passed away December 4, 2020 at a local nursing home.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Per his request, no services will be held.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Ray was born on September 7, 1927 in Merrill, IA to August and Minnie (Karsten) Herbst.  He joined the United States Navy and served from 1946-1953.  He was united in marriage to Nancy Menard, she preceded him in death.  Ray farmed in Merrill for over 25 years.  He also worked in the water department for the City of Sioux City for 25 years.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters: Dawna Willson, Sioux City, IA and Rhonda Herbst, Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: David and Jason Darrah, Sioux City, IA and Tina and Wendy Kissell, Des Moines, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Deb Kissell, and several brothers and sisters.
