Raymond J. Jones, 86, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at a care center in South Sioux City.

Raymond was born on February 11, 1938, in Walthill, Nebraska, the son of Nelson and Louise (Waite) Jones.

Raymond's life was marked by dedication and service. Graduating from South Sioux City High School in 1955, he proudly served in the Iowa National Guard, from April 1955 until his honorable discharge in April of 1961.

His commitment to his community extended beyond his military service; Raymond worked as a projectionist for KCAU and KMEG and later channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into owning his own landscaping business. He married Joleen Smith on October 11, 1958, in South Sioux City.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Raymond was a man of diverse interests and passions. He held a deep appreciation for music and took great joy in his work. Most importantly, he treasured the moments spent with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.

Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Joleen Jones; his children, Craig (Lori) Jones, Curtis (Sandy) Jones, and Carey (Jeff) Mogensen, all of South Sioux City. He was a proud grandfather to Nick Jones, Matt (Ana) Mogensen, Jacob (Kylee) Jones, Emily (Brent) Gotch, Mike Mogensen, Laura Jones, Meg Mogensen, and Max Mogensen. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Grady Gotch, Brook Gotch, Brock Rohde, and Blake Rohde.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Louise Jones, and his three brothers, Kenny, Jim, and Don. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
