Raymond Edward Tippery, 92, of Sioux City,IA passed away Sunday December 26th 2021.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday January 3rd at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Raymond was born Aug. 15, 1929, in Sioux City, the son of Herman A. and Florence M. (Gregg) Tippery. Growing up in South Bottoms neighborhood of Sioux City provided memorable experiences and lifelong friends. He was a Boy Scout & attained the highest level possible, Eagle Scout. Married to Carolyne J. Carlson until her passing in 1994. Raymond was lifelong resident of Sioux City.
Raymond was heavy equipment operator for Jensen & Craig, served in US Army as Medical Aidman, 27-year career at Younker Davidson as Warehouse Manager, Driver for a Wheelchair Transportation Company, and worked independently to transport many customers that almost always became his friends.
Raymond enjoyed hobbies of fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling in his younger years. Bowling and pool were his passions in his later years. He was an expert bowler and pool player. He continued these hobbies into his 90's! He will be sorely missed by all his younger friends.
Raymond along with Frank Juarez and Rev. John Hantla created the 1st South Bottoms Reunion which was held June 1981 at the Marina Inn. The group of people sharing ties to the South Bottoms continued to gather together through the years to the present day. It was very important to Raymond. Raymond was instrumental in the creation of a South Bottoms memorial monument in Sioux City.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Gregory and Tracy Tippery of St. John, IN; daughter Barbara Mooney, grandson Eric Mooney and 4 great-grandchildren of Long Beach, CA; Longtime companion Lonna Erickson; Lonna’s daughter and her husband Andrea and Greg Bean; Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Lonna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carolyne on December 08, 1994; a daughter Linda Tippery of Sioux City in 2007; a sister, Betty Hesse; a sister Virginia Burnight.
In closing, everyone Raymond met was a friend of Raymond.
