Rev. Leon H. Pfotenhauer

December 15, 1929 — July 10, 2021

   Rev. Leon Henry Pfotenhauer, 91, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at a care facility.

   A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church 12th and Douglas with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   Leon was born December 15, 1929 in Pierre, SD; the son of William and Frances (Reber) Pfotenhauer.  He was raised in Pierre and attended Pierre schools.  He enlisted in the Army following high school.  Leon graduated in 1956 at South Dakota State College of Pharmacy.  He was employed in Sioux City Walgreens working in the downtown store and at the mall store for 25 years.

   He was ordained a Deacon of the Episcopal Church and served both Calvary and St. Paul’s churches.

   He was an avid wood carver and also enjoyed golf and fishing.  Leon was a life time member of the International Kiwanis.  His church and his family were most important to him.

   Leon is survived by his wife Lorraine of 66 years; sons David (Maria) of Indio, CA and Paul (Cathy) of Gardnerville, NV; a sister Phyllis (Chuck) Robbins; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Carol Bloom; daughter-in-law Tracy; and grandson Curtis Leon.

   Memorials can be made to St. Thomas food pantry or Siouxland Hospice.
