Richard W. Becker

Richard W. Becker, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at home with his family by his side.  Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. with a rosary at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  The family requests masks be worn by all attendees.  Burial will be immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.

Richard was born the son of Reinold and Katherine Rose (Juden) Becker on May 16, 1937 in Crofton, Nebraska.  He graduated from Hartington High School.  Richard married Shirley Hamilton on July 20, 1957.  They enjoyed 64 ½ years together. 

Richard worked for the Diamond Horse Shoe, Crystal Oil, and Booth & Olson Construction before beginning his career with Sioux Tools.  He retired after 48 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and often gave away produce to his friends and family. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley Becker of Sioux City; daughters, Leslie (Larry) Williams, Lynn (Rob) Snyder, and Lana (Jeff Cain) Becker all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Leah and Robbie; grandson, Rodney; and siblings, Donnie, Reinold, Joan, Rita, Loretta, and Mary.
