Richard Harvey Fredrickson

Richard Harvey Fredrickson passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on July 1, 1942, in Sioux City, where he spent his formative years in both Vermillion, South Dakota and Sioux City, Iowa.

Richard dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his community as a bus driver for Sioux City Transit. His easygoing demeanor and social personality made him a friend to many, as countless individuals came to know him through his work. Richard’s ability to connect with people not only endeared him to the passengers he drove, but also left a lasting impact on the community he served.

He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. This sense of duty and commitment to service carried through to his personal life.

Richard is survived by his children: Melody Diack, Kristina Myers, Aimee Struble, and Brian Stockham; four grandchildren; and his siblings: Marie (Glen) Vestal, Viola Welch, Lily Buck, Irvin (Dennice) Holloway, and Virgil (Reva) Holloway.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Florence (Christopherson) Fredrickson, his wife Nancy Fredrickson, and several siblings: Joe Holloway, Art Holloway, Ralph Holloway, John Holloway, Albert Holloway, and Michael Fredrickson. 

Abiding by Richard's wishes, cremation will take place and services will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
