Richard was born on July 8, 1943, to Charlie and Minnie (Smith) Hrasky in Council Bluffs, IA. He graduated from Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961. He went on to attend the University of Omaha. He also served 6 years in the Iowa National Guard.

He began his work in sales with Illinois Central Railroad, which brought him to Sioux City. That is where he met the love of his life, Sue (Conway) Hrasky. They were united in marriage on December 19, 1970, at Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City, IA. To this union, they were blessed with three wonderful children, Stephanie, Mike and Jeff.

Richard enjoyed his work in sales and was a natural. He never knew a stranger and formed many lifelong friends throughout his career. He spent his years working for Bojens and Seymour, Terra International and Simonsen Manufacturing.

He enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Indian Lake Lodge in Vermillion Bay, Ontario. From 1979-2019, he rarely missed the walleye opener. Every summer, Dick and Sue loved taking family road trips with the kids. Their many adventures often took them out West. The kids have fond memories of their adventures. Not only did Dick love his family and friends, but he also had much love for his many dogs throughout the years. Dick will be remembered for his witty jokes and his love for Black and Gold. GO HAWKS!

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sue as well as his children Stephanie (Brian) Burton, Mike (Kristin) Hrasky and Jeff (Candice) Hrasky; his grandchildren Carter and Bella Burton, Morgan Hrasky and Eva Wernsman.
