Ricky Dean Gatzemeyer

Ricky Dean Gatzemeyer, 58, a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in South Sioux City, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ricky's honor on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Born on October 3, 1966, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Raymond Sr. and Patricia (Coan), Ricky was a lifelong resident of the area where he was educated through the South Sioux City Schools.

Ricky was known for his vibrant personality that brought people together. He had a passion for life that was evident in his numerous hobbies and interests. An ardent outdoor enthusiast, he loved fishing and camping, and he was a devoted fan of the Nebraska Huskers. His love for excitement was matched by his enthusiasm for watching drag racing. Above all, Ricky cherished spending quality time with his family, particularly with his beloved grandchildren, Gage, Chase, Korbin, Adlee, and Weston, and enjoyed engaging in friendly competition while playing cards.

He is survived by his loving wife, Johnette Gatzemeyer; his sons, Anthony (Lara) Gatzemeyer of Sioux City, Andrew (Lisa) Gatzemeyer of Lawton, IA, Aaron Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City, and Adam Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City. Ricky's legacy continues with his grandchildren, Gage, Chase, Korbin, Adlee, and Weston, who brought him immense joy, as well as his brothers and sisters: Deanna (William) Weohler, Ann Gilmore, Tammi Seger, and Billy Gatzemeyer, sisters-in-law, Michele Gatzemeyer, Stephanie Gatzemeyer, and Stephanie Wolff, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Sr. and Patricia Gatzemeyer, his sister Terri, brother Raymond Jr., sister Lisa, brother Steve, and brother Gerry, grandparents, and great nephews.
