Robert E. Anderson, 83, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at a local care facility.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Dan Doran officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, with the family present from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the funeral home.Robert was born on January 27, 1932 in South Sioux City, NE, the son of John and Lucille (Thompson) Anderson. He graduated from Ponca High School in 1950. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954 in the Korean Conflict as Master Sgt. Robert married Mary Jean Nelson on June 11, 1955 at the South Sioux City Presbyterian Church. He worked one year at Windcharger, then for Sioux Tools for the next forty years. He built two houses, one was in Okoboji.He golfed at the South Ridge Golf Course with Sioux Tools and his buddies from Hy-Vee.Robert was a big Husker fan. He enjoyed traveling across the USA. Being a snow bird in Texas, Arizona and Florida was his favorite. He was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine, Landmark Lodge, and was the President of the Wrecking Crew for the Abu Bekr Shrine in 1986.He is survived by his wife Jean Anderson and son, Brad of South Sioux City, NE; two daughters, Jody (Rodney) Kirstein of Sioux Falls, SD, and Cindy Lou Anderson of South Sioux City, NE; a brother, Bill (Donna) Anderson of Omaha, NE; one sister, Carol Welcher of Vancouver, WA; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Anderson; a daughter, Jewel Kay Anderson; one sister, Joyce Bielenberg; one brother, John Paul Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Bob Welcher.
