Robert "Bob" Hickson

   Robert L. “Bob” Hickson, 70, of Sioux City, IA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his home.

   Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating.  Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Wesley United Methodist Church.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting with arrangements.

   Robert L. “Bob”, the son of Lester and Marvel (Ronfeldt) Hickson, was born August 31, 1951 in Sioux City, IA. During Bob’s early years, his family lived in several different communities throughout the Siouxland area.  He graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School.  Bob worked for Wilson Trailer Company for 46 years, where he retired as their Service Manager. After his retirement, Bob and Babs enjoyed spending the winter months at their second home in Arizona, where they were blessed with great weather and many new friends.

   Bob was united in marriage to Babette K. “Babs” in 1971 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City.  This union was blessed with three children and the family made their home in the Morningside area. 

  Some of Bob’s hobbies included his passion for vehicles especially his Chevy Trucks, spending time with friends and family, and playing cards or marbles. Above all, he cherished his nine grandchildren: Nate Smith, Jake Smith, Ellie Smith, Abel Hickson, Zeb Hickson, Tatum Hickson, Krin Hickson, Zane Tarnowski, and Maddox Tarnowski.  He was an avid supporter of all of their activities.  He enjoyed the times he had with them fishing, camping and being their most passionate and positive cheerleader.

   Bob is survived by his wife, Babette “Babs” Hickson; three children: Stephanie (Mark) Smith, Brian (Stephanie) Hickson, and Laura (Paul) Tarnowski; six siblings: Vicky (Tom) Graves, Rick (Mary) Hickson, Randy (Judy) Hickson, Ron Hickson, Becky (Roy) Arnold, and Terri (C.G.) Knox; one brother-in-law, Bill Gotto; and several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zeb Hickson; two sisters: Christine Gotto and Sherry (Tom) Coe; and one brother in infancy, Rodney.
