Robert Joseph Klassen, Sr., 55 of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 in Omaha, Nebraska due to liver and kidney failure. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Burial will be at Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. He lived in Fremont until 1975, when he moved to the Siouxland area where he remained until his passing. He attended elementary school at St. Patrick’s and Lewis and Clark schools in Fremont; Covington Middle School; and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1985. He worked for Wells Blue Bunny for 23 years. Robert was awarded a Red Cross Hero award. He served in the United States Navy from 1986 to 1991, where he served on the USS Midway and USS Arcadia. He is survived by his children: son Robert J. Klassen, JR (Alexis) of Omaha; son Matthew J. Klassen (Vicki) of Cherokee, IA; daughter Jessica I Foxhoven (Chris) of Sioux City; and daughter Shelby Klassen (Michael) of South Sioux City; grandchildren: Aubrey, Autumn, and Austin L. Foxhoven; Melody and Scarlett Loux; and James Klassen; sisters: Diana Langemeier (Art) of Wayne, NE; Julie Jarose (Bill) of Elkhorn, NE; and Chris Larsen (Bill) of Elkhorn, NE; brothers: Jerry Klassen (Marcia) of Arvada, CO; Mike Klassen (Jackie) of North Sioux City, SD; and Marty Klassen (Tavane) of Sioux City. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Mavis Klassen; nephews: Ben Jarose and Zachary Ruhr; uncle Wayne Langemeier, and his faithful companion Lazareth.
