Robert E. "Bob" Mabeus, 59, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away at his residence on July 29, 2010.A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE. Visitation with the family present will be one hour before mass at the church. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Bob was born February 6, 1951 in Laurel, NE, the son of Luvern and Marilyn (Lowe) Mabeus. He grew up in Ponca, NE. Bob was active in Boy Scouts and was proud to have earned the level of Eagle Scout. Bob, a 1969 graduate of Ponca Public School, attended Kearney State College in Kearney, NE before entering the United States Army in January, 1971. While serving, Bob was in a life-changing automobile accident and was honorably discharged in March, 1972. He later returned to Kearney State College. Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing trivia on almost any topic. He worked at various jobs and called Kansas City home for the next thirty years, until the time of his death.Survivors include his parents, Luvern and Marilyn Mabeus of Ponca, NE; a son, Adam Hillman of Kearney, NE; brothers and sisters, Julie Lukken and Gene Hrubetz of Omaha, NE, Vicki and Bob Irby of Ponca, NE, Roxanne and Myron Thompson of Shelton, NE, Kirk and Jeanne Mabeus of Rainbow City, AL and Bryan and Shelisa Mabeus of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
