Robin J. Samson, 57, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on December 29, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.A celebration of life service will be at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 2, 2010 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Pastor Carol Jean Stapleton of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will begin 1 hour prior to the service, and continue with lunch following the service. Military rites will be conducted by South Sioux City American Legion Post #307. Burial will be at a later date.Robin was born March 21, 1953 in Rapid City, SD, the son of Sammy and Shirley (McGovern) Samson. He attended grade school in Jackson, NE, and then in South Sioux City, where he graduated in 1971. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1971 to 1973. Following the service he moved to Houston, TX, where he was an iron worker at W.S. Bellows Construction Corp. He constructed towers in WY before becoming ill. He moved back to South Sioux City in May, 2009 to be close to his family.He enjoyed fishing, watching football, road trips with Doug and weekly poker.Survivors include his wife, Cherri (Bahmer) of Sioux City, IA; a daughter, Robin of Houston, TX; a son, Harrison of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Randall (Rhonda) Samson of Salix, IA; one sister, Roxanne (Randall) Voss of South Sioux City, NE; three nephews; three nieces; and his two squirrels, Vern and Earl.Robin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Samson.His legacy, "I did it my way."Robin's family wishes to express our sincere thanks for the flowers and other expressions of love during our time of bereavement, and to Walker Samson for the CD's.
