Roger M. Flammang, 79, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loving family after a lengthy illness.
Per his wishes, Roger has been cremated, and no service are planned at this time.
Roger was born September 10, 1945, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Matthew and Cecelia (Uhl) Flammang. A devoted husband, Roger married Linda Hicks on August 17, 1968. They shared a loving partnership until her passing on January 3, 2016, in Kingsley, Iowa. Together, they created a family that Roger cherished deeply.
Throughout his life, Roger was known for his hard work and commitment. He contributed significantly to the community, working on a mink farm and serving as a long-time farmhand for Krieg Farms. His strong work ethic was matched only by his love for nature and the outdoors. Roger found joy in fishing, camping, and tinkering with tools, always eager to embrace the simpler pleasures of life. He was a fan of Westerns and could often be found cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes. His love for life and family was evident in every aspect of his being, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Roger was particularly fond of spending time with his family and grandchildren. He took great delight in the company of his children, Lisa (Jon) Nichols of Sioux City and Jason Flammang. His grandchildren—Alexis Flammang, Elizabeth Nichols, Trinity Nichols, Ethan Nichols, Benjamin Flammang-Sutton, and Michael Merchant—brought him immeasurable happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Roger is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Langmeyer of Le Mars and Sandra Bokemper of Sioux City, along with numerous nieces and nephews who have been touched by his kindness and wisdom.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Cecelia Flammang, his beloved wife Linda, and his siblings, Ed Flammang and Janet Schoenherr.
