Roger Robert Nicolls, 80, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Bill Claeys officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Roger was born July 10, 1942, the son of Harold and Ardith (Thompson) Nicolls. He attended Sioux City public schools. Roger married Judith Ann Smith on February 7, 1961 in Elk Point, SD. She preceded Roger in death on July 17, 2021. At the age of 16, Roger started his career with the City of Sioux City and worked in the Maintance department for 37 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and golf. Roger and Judy loved to dance in their younger years and enjoyed their camping trips, especially in Yankton and Texas. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Roger was a member of the Elks Club, Eagles, NRA, and the Sioux City Boat Club.
Survivors include his daughters: Teresa (Ken) Kamradt, Julie Sample, and Nancy Nicolls (Chris Bubba Matthews) all of Sioux City; granddaughter, Katie (James) Warner of Ponca; great-grandchildren, Belle and Declan; and brothers: Jack Nicolls, Wayne (Patty) Nicolls, Tom Nicolls, and Larry Nicolls.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy, son-in-law Steven Sample, and sisters: Evelyn, Arlene, Louise, and Sandy.
Pallbearers will be Joe West, Matt Roemmich, Lloyd Piester, Kurt VonHagel, Vilem Vavra, and James Warner. Honorary Pallbearer is Declan Warner.
