Roger R. Wendte, 62, of South Sioux City, NE passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 31, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Pastor Carol Jean Stapleton of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 3, 2011, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Roger was born on June 10, 1949 in Newcastle, NE, the son of Roy and Donna (Martinsen) Wendte, and step-father, Darrell (Andy) Anderson. He attended Emerson-Hubbard and South Sioux City schools. He married Pam Ferguson in Yankton, SD on November 4, 1968. The couple made their home in South Sioux City, and were blessed with 3 children, Robin, Aaron and Chad. Roger worked for Tyson Foods for 42 years, beginning at IBP's Hide Dept. He then helped build and supervised the new hide plant before transferring to South Supply in Tyson.He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid golfer for many years and a master gardener. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.Survivors include his wife, Pam of South Sioux City; 1 daughter, Robin (Ken) Arens of Omaha, NE; 2 grandsons, Benjamin and Aaron (AJ) Arens; 1 step-granddaughter, Alyssa Wright; brothers, Wayne (Kay) Wendte of Sioux City, Denis (Kim) Wendte of South Sioux City; Mark (Kris) Wendte of Sioux City; many nieces, nephews and out-laws.Roger was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Chad and Aaron Wendte; and 2 brothers, Ronald and Darrel Dean Wendte.
