Ronald A. Cooper, 81, of Jackson, NE passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 15, 2018.Memorial services with military rites will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Fred Sundt officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with the family present at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Wednesday.Ronald was born on December 21, 1936 in Walthill, NE, the son of Thomas and Amelia (Gunsolly) Cooper. He attended school in South Sioux City, NE. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 through 1958, during the Korean Conflict. Ronald married Francies O'Meara on May 18, 1963. They were blessed with a son, Scott and a daughter, Carrie Jo (Susie). He worked as a farmer, working many years for Ira Love in the Jackson, NE area, before working as a welder for Load King in Elk Point, SD for 15 years until he retired in 1992.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on lawn mowers and small motors.Survivors include his wife, Francies Cooper; children, Scott Cooper and Carrie Jo (Susie) Nelson and her special friend, Lee Allison; 2 granddaughters, Cortney and Rachel Nelson; sisters and brother, Hazel Perrin, Mary Lou Brodersen, Helen Phillips, Amy (John) Klein and Chuck (Jean) Cooper; and sister-in-law, Bettie Cooper.He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers; 1 sister; 5 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designations to be made at a later time.
