It is with great sadness the family of Ronald (Ronnie) Dahlman announces his passing after a brief illness. With family at his bedside, he passed peacefully at home on Saturday, August 12, 2018.Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 16 , 2018 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial ill be in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Sioux City, with Military Honors provided by the 185th refueling wing. Visitation will be held 5-7 P.M.on Wednesday, August 15 , 2018 at the funeral home.He was born February 3, 1941 in Geddes, South Dakota to Howard and Evelyn Dahlman. He was a life-long South Sioux City, NE resident and is fondly remembered for his engaging personality. Ronnie was a veteran of military service. Shortly after high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years from 1959 - 1963. In addition, he retired (after 22 yrs. of service) from the Air National Guard Base (185th Air Refueling Wing) here in Sioux City, IA.Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He included family and friends in recreational activities involving pheasant hunting and training AKC (American Kennel Club) Registered hunting dogs. He achieved success and recognition as a dog trainer/handler; participating as a member of the AKC sanctioned "German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Iowa". His successes include two AKC "Field Trial Champions" (dogs). Family and friends remember, one of his dogs AKC Field trial Champion "Brown L" was recognized nationally through AKC Field Trial Hall of Fame. Later in life Ronnie enjoyed success and recognition in Western Cowboy Shooters Association competitions involving old west era shooting and horsemanship.He is survived by his wife and family including the following: wife, Stacy Dahlman and all five children, Michelle Schroeder, Jennifer Raynor (Mike), Jeff Dahlman (Kindra), Rick Dahlman (Renae) and Rod Dahlman (Tracy); in addition to his sister, Marilyn Lake (Lanny); 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
