Ronald C. Hogh, 80, of Jackson, Nebraska passed away at his family home on January 6, 2020. The Traditional Latin Requiem Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday January 13, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Nebraska. Visitation with the family present will be Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a rosary and scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. all at the church. Burial will be at Saint John’s Cemetery.
Ronnie was born June 16, 1939 in Ponca, Nebraska, the first son of Chris and Anna Lucille (Walsh) Hogh. He lived his entire life on the family farm next to what was known as Goodwin, Nebraska. He attended grade school in Goodwin and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1957. After graduation, Ronnie worked at Western Contracting, American Optical, and Walman Optical, retiring from Pech Optical in 2006. He was proud to have worked for a degree from Briar Cliff College at nights while maintaining his full-time employment positions. Ronnie was featured in the Sioux City Journal in May of 1978 for his unique 13-year pursuit of that English degree. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Tracy Council, and a 4th Degree member of the Garrigan Assembly in Sioux City.
Ronnie spent his retirement years studying and researching his Irish and Danish genealogy, and collecting Goodwin, Nebraska memorabilia.
Survivors include his sister Louise (Mike Sr) Wilmes of Sioux City, IA, and brother Donald Hogh of Jackson, NE. He is also survived by nephews Michael (Gina) Wilmes of Dakota City, NE, Chris (Kate) Wilmes of Sioux City, IA, Kevin (Susan) Wilmes of Sioux City, IA, and nieces Lisa (Denny) Jarrett of Council Bluffs, IA, Theresa (John) VanEldik of Sioux City, IA, and Laurie (Dave) Bentson of Sioux City, IA, along with many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
