Ronald L. Hurd, 84 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at his residence comforted by family. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sioux City with Bishop Brian Cook officiating. A private burial will follow at Climbing Hill Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to services at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family. Ronald was born on April 5, 1941 in Holly Springs, Iowa to Walker H. and Leola (Cutler) Hurd. He received his education at the IBSS School for the blind in Vinton, Iowa, receiving his high school diploma. Ronald married Faythe D. Clancy on May 11, 1974 in Sioux City, Iowa, they have made Siouxland their home, being a lifetime resident of the Paxton Street home, in which Ronald passed away. During his working career, Ron ran the newsstand in the Federal Building from 1977 until 1986 when he moved to the Woodbury County Courthouse cafeteria, where he remained until retirement. 

Ronald enjoyed his memberships to the United Blind of Iowa, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Ronald is survived by his wife Faythe of Sioux City; daughters Synthia Davis and Aundrea Marcoe; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister Edna Erhart.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Winnie Thompson, Alveretta Castle, Roseanne Marsh, Leola “Pollie” Lambson, and brothers Theodore Hurd, Royal Hurd, Raymond Hurd, and Victor Hurd.
