Ronald E. Welter, a quiet and private soul, gracefully departed this life on January 24, 2025, at Accura Healthcare. Born on July 22, 1954, in the charming town of Le Mars, Iowa, Ron exemplified dedication and integrity throughout his life, a testament to the values instilled in him by his cherished family.
His career was one marked by unwavering commitment; Ron began his journey as a part-time employee at Hyvee while still a teenager, during his sophomore year at Le Mars Community High School. This humble beginning blossomed into an illustrious tenure, culminating in his full-time employment commencing on August 18, 1972. His steadfast devotion to Hy-Vee spanned over 46 years, concluding with his well-deserved retirement in October 2020. Ron's exemplary service was recognized notably with a service award after reaching the esteemed milestone of 45 years.
Beyond his career, Ron found joy in various pursuits. An avid golfer, he relished spending leisure hours on the green. His heart raced for the open roads as he drove his beloved 2017 50th Anniversary Chevy Camaro, a symbol of his zest for life. Fishing was another passion, with memorable adventures that took him across the globe, the crowning jewel being a trip to Alaska. It is spoken of fondly that while Ron enjoyed these fishing expeditions, he never quite took to cleaning the fish, a quirk that added to his endearing character.
Surviving him are his daughter, Melissa Welter, and his two grandchildren, who will undoubtedly carry forward his legacy. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Eaton and Mary (Richard) Vondrak, along with numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to know his gentle spirit.
Ron joins his dearly departed family, including his parents, his sister Janet, and his brother Michael and sister-in-law, Marilyn, all of whom will now welcome him with open arms.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on February 11, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
