Rose Mary Gunderson

Rose Mary Gunderson, 78 of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at a local hospital.  Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Reverend Abby Caseman officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, January 12^th at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Rose was born on March 17, 1944 in Walthill, Nebraska to Pat and Margie (Nunn) Young.  She married James “Jim” H. Gunderson on August 21, 1965 in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  The couple lived in McCook Lake before moving to South Sioux City, where they have called home for the last 46 years.  Rose operated an in-home daycare for 26 years before her retirement. 

Rose is survived by her husband Jim of South Sioux City; daughter Cheryl (Craig) Jensen of Sioux City and daughter Angela (Todd) Greer of South Sioux City; "adopted daughter" Melissa (Todd) Baker of South Sioux City; brother Bill (Nancy) Young; grandchildren Frank (Destiny) Hazard, Erik (Jennie Uhing) Hazard, Josh Hazard, Daniel Greer; “adopted grandkids” Jessica and Justin Baker; great-grandchildren Bella, Max, Michelle, Jaxon Hazard; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rose was preceded in death by parents, Pat Young and Margie Gregg, brothers Tommy and Donnie Gregg, and brother Gene Young.

Bearers for the service will be Frank Hazard, Erik Hazard, Josh Hazard, Todd Baker, Daniel Greer, and Jessica Baker.  Honorary Bearer will be Justin Baker.
