Rosemarie Flom

March 3, 1920 — August 7, 2022

Rosemarie Flom, 102 of Ponca, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the Elms Health Care Center.  A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13. 2022 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newcastle, Nebraska with Pastor Joyce Cook officiating.  Burial will be at the Newcastle Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com  Memorials may be offered to either Congregational Church of Christ or St. Croix Hospice.

Rosemarie was born on March 3, 1920 to Harry and Edith (Reichardt) Calvert.  She received her education at the Newcastle Public School, graduation with the Class of 1937.  She married Howard Cole, to which son Melvin was born.  The couple later divorced, and Rosemarie married Duane O. Flom on February 1, 1953.  During her working career, she worked as a homemaker, cook in Newcastle cafes, and will be most well known for her cooking at the Newcastle Public School for years. 

Rosemarie was a proud member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Newcastle, being a Deaconess, and a member of the Ladies Aide.  She was also on the cemetery guild and a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Rosemarie enjoyed playing cards, and entertaining friends and family. 

Rosemarie is survived by her children Melvin Cole of Newcastle, Nebraska, Sharon (Al) Bartee of St. Cloud, Florida, Suzane Flom of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and Duane Keith (Birgit) Flom of Maskell, Nebraska; sister Janet Boutwell of Lakeland, Washington; grandchildren Catherine (Trey) Mitchell, Richard (Leslie) Cole, Sarah (Brian) Gross, Brooke (Brandon) Voss, and David (Amy) Newsam; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, and siblings Eldene Kniefl, Janice Ray Calvert, Lyle Calvert, and Glen Calvert.
