Royce Kollbaum

Royce Kollbaum of Ponca, NE went to be with his Savior on February 18, 2017. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Royce was born on October 17, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to Otto J. and Mina (Meyers) Kollbaum. He grew up on a farm south and east of Newcastle and attended Newcastle High School. He became an expert mechanic at an early age and went on to own an auto repair and sales business for nearly 30 years. After selling his repair business, he started an auto sales business with his longtime friend, Dick Harison.Royce married Marianne Millie on September 1, 1957 in Fremont, NE. They lived their entire married life in Ponca. Royce was an excellent dancer. He and Marianne traveled to many music venues where they danced day and night. They traveled to Valentine, NE several times a year where he loved working cattle on the Linabery Ranch.Royce was an avid hunter and made several trips to Wyoming and Montana with friend, Monte Roeber. He hunted deer every fall with brother-in-law, Carl, and friend, Bob Brewer. Royce served on the Ponca City Council, was a member of the Ponca Historical Society, and faithfully attended the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca.He is survived by his wife, Marianne; daughter, Amy (Keith); two granddaughters, Mariah (Pierce) and Aaliyah; great-grandson, AJ.; five brothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; beloved cousin, Aaron Meyers; special lifelong friends, Bob and Jean Brewer, Rod and Judie Bauman, Paul McCardle, Sr., and Leo, Ruth and Monte Linabery.Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mina Kollbaum.
