Ruby C. Sievers

Ruby C. Sievers, 91, of Ponca, NE passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE.Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE with Pastor Sheila Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Ponca City Cemetery in Ponca. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Ruby was born in rural Thurston, NE on September 24, 1919, the daughter of George and Alecia (Rice) Lemmon. She attended school in Thurston and Pender, graduating from Pender High School in 1937. After high school she worked for Attorney, Robert Fuhrman. She married Frank Sievers on February 2, 1939 at Pender, NE. Ruby was a homemaker, raising 5 children. The family moved to Ponca in 1951, where she worked for Merle Kingsbury as a legal secretary in the County Attorney's Office for almost four decades. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ponca, serving as District Officer. She was also on the church council and in the Methodist women's organization. Ruby was in the Ponca Legion Auxiliary, a girl scout leader, worked as a volunteer for the Blood Bank and the Elms Health Care Center, and she was a proud member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.Ruby enjoyed camping, bowling, sewing and knitting.Survivors include two sons, Jim (Karen) Sievers of Guthrie Center, IA and Frank (Barbara) Sievers of Ponca, NE; three daughters, Carla (Dan) Boeshart of Emerson, NE, Kathy (Gary) Fox of Hawarden, IA and Janette (Mark) Youker of Chanhassen, MN; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alecia Lemmon; her husband, Frank, on November 10, 1997; 9 brothers and sisters, Fred, Rue, Hillard, John, Harold, Bill, Renee, Mernie and Iona.
