Russell "Russ" G. Curry, 72, of Ponca, NE passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his residence.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca with Rev. Peter Speiser officiating. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.Russell was born on April 10, 1945 in Ponca, NE the son of Fredrick and Velma (Crombie) Curry. He graduated from Ponca High School in 1963. Russ married Carol Bossman on September 3, 1964 in Ponca, NE. He worked as a farmer, truck driver and heavy equipment operator.He enjoyed coffee at Cook's and his cattle.Survivors include 2 daughters, Brenda and Dale Wimmer of Mapleton, IA and Lanette and Tim Von Seggern of Pender, NE; 1 son, Jim and Kim Curry of Tea, SD; 7 grandchildren, Alex and Janell Wimmer, Jon and Nikki Wimmer, Megan Wimmer, Rebecca and Vanessa Von Seggern, and Sam and Maggie Curry; 1 great-grandson, Leo Wimmer; a brother, Bill Curry of Yuma, AZ; special friend, Mary Granato of Ponca and her family; and his dog, Daisy.Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Carol in 2011; his parents, Fredrick and Velma Curry; and his sister, Norma Knerl.
