Ruth was born on September 3, 1931, in Jefferson, South Dakota, to Roy and Daisy (Holder) Orr. Ruth was married to David in 1950 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Jefferson.  She raised her children with love and devotion with her husband David, who preceded her in death in 2019.

Ruth was active in Catholic women’s groups at the various churches she attended.  She was known for being a prayer warrior and her family knew to call her if they had a prayer request as she prayed the rosary daily for over 71 years and attended St. Michael’s Adoration on Tuesday mornings. Some of Ruth’s hobbies were golf, bowling, and card-playing, especially bridge.

She is survived by six children, Colette (Jim) Hrabik of Omaha, NE, Kevin (Judy) of Loveland, CO, Pamela of Sioux City, Mary (Barry) Bird of Wichita, KS, Joseph (Cindy) of Wichita, KS, David (Linda) of Avon Lake, OH, brother Raymond Orr of West Point, NE and sister-in-law JoAnn (Doug) Faber of Phoenix, AZ, 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.  She was loved and adored by all of them, and will forever be remembered for her smile, laughter, hard work, and total devotion to family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband David.

Memorials may be given to Holy Cross – St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Hospice of Siouxland in Ruth’s memory.
