Ruth N. Palmer, 88, of South Sioux City passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at her daughter's residence, surrounded by her loving family.Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1431 W. 29th Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska. Family graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Ruth was born in rural Mapleton, Iowa to John and Evelyn (Jacques) Willson on February 28, 1921. She grew up in the Castana, Iowa area. She married Ernest (Ernie) Palmer. To this union three children were born, Bonnie, Arlene and Al. They lived in the Anthon and South Sioux City area. Ernest passed away in 1983. Ruth married Erwin (Erv) Palmer and they resided in South Sioux City. Erwin passed away in 1999.Ruth was a homemaker. She liked to read and do embroidery work. She loved to shop and go to lunch with friends, and spending her winters in Tennessee.She enjoyed attending Evangelical Church in South Sioux City.Survivors include one son, Al (Garnet) Palmer of Grain Valley, MO; two daughters, Arlene (Wendell) O'Brien of Paris, TN and Bonnie Krumwiede of South Sioux City, NE; grandsons, Russell (Gina) Messerley of Omaha, NE, Jeff (Janis) Newcomb of Cary, N.C. and Wendell (Nancy) O'Brien of Carthage, N.C.; granddaughters, Cris (Dan) Price of Flowery Branch, GA, Shari Wance of Grain Valley, MO, Theresa Fischer of Palmer, AK, Steffani Christoff of Bashoer, KS and Nicole Timko of Grain Valley, MO; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Ham of Onawa, IA; many nieces and nephews.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Ernest and Erwin; two brothers, Frank and Walter Willson; sister-in-law, Margie Willson; brother-in-law, Glen Ham and a dear friend, Ruth Laird.
