Homer

Sandra F. Allen, 80 of rural Homer, Nebraska passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sandy was born the daughter of Bernard and May (Jensen) Stoner on July 7, 1944 in Homer, Nebraska. She graduated from Homer High School and then from Wayne State College with her teaching degree. Sandy married Rod Allen on February 29, 1964. They made their home in South Sioux City until building their dream home in Homer in 1997.

Sandy taught for South Sioux City schools for 38 years. In her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for another 10 years.

Sandy was always on the go. She was a hardworking farm girl who enjoyed many things. She could be found out in the yard mowing or tending to her garden or inside the house cooking, baking, and canning. She enjoyed hosting Halloween and Renaissance parties out in her woods for many years, as well as hosting numerous graduations, birthdays and a wedding. She was also a huge football fan. She attended most home Husker games, several of their bowl games and liked to watch weekly professional games while grading papers. She could talk football stats, players, teams with the best of them, often schooling her grandsons on her knowledge of the game. Her and Rod did a lot of camping and traveling in their RV and also took many memorable trips on motorcycle to Sturgis, Alaska, and wherever the road took them.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Rod Allen; children, Shellie (John) Church, Lisa (Brad) Hoch, and Chad (Barb) Allen; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and a set of twins on the way that she so badly wanted to meet; and a brother, Ken (Judy) Stoner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dan.
