Sharie J. Young, 44, of Ponca, NE passed to glory on Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA after a short battle with cancer.Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Lorri Kentner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Sharie was born on August 30, 1972 to parents Sharon Young and DJ Atkinson.Sharie had a special heart for horses. At a young age, she began to buy and sell her own mounts and rode competitively in her native California. Horses were a form of therapy for her and she was so grateful to work with them again in the past year. She was also a talented artist. She began to create artwork at a young age and went on to show and sell her works professionally throughout her life.Sharie was a special person who was active in church and who left behind many dear friends who will forever remember her sense of humor, her sweet smile and her absolute faith that as she left this earth, she would be borne home in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.She is survived by her daughter, Julianne Young; Julianne's father, John Gates; her mother, Sharon Young; her father, D.J. Atkinson; her sister, Jenna Cole and family; brother, Fred Auman; Fred's children, Mandy Auman and Brad Wenzel; special friend, Chad Bostwick; and her beloved cat, Baby Boy.
