Shelly L. Simons

Shelly L. Simons, 53, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Elk Point Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. **Please note, due to recent government limitations to social gatherings, we will be limiting the number of guests in the funeral chapel to 10 persons at a time, maximum. You will be able to sign the register book and have a folder upon your arrival to the funeral home, but if you wish to speak to the family please understand that you may be asked to wait outside until the guests before you have departed. We appreciate your patience during this time.

Shelly was born on October 20, 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Larry and Candace Hinman. She lived in Omaha and various other cities before landing in Sioux City, where she spent the rest of her life and met the love of her life, Shawn Simons. The two were married on May 6, 2011 in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Shelly spent over 20 years as an optician, most recently with Pearl Vision Eye Clinic in Sioux City. She enjoyed listening to live music, playing games like dice and cards, cooking out with her friends and family, and loved watching Nebraska football.

She is survived by her husband, Shawn; her siblings; and her father, Larry.
