Shirley “Squirrely” Jean Verrill, 87, of Sioux City died Thursday February 4, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1PM at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one our prior to the service.
Shirley Scott Verrill was born July 1, 1933 in Smithland Iowa the daughter of Walter and Madge Discus Scott. She grew up in Smithland and Sioux City.
She was employed with Crosstown Tavern for 30 years and the Dublin House for 5 years.
She loved playing Bingo, cards and dice and she loved spending time with her family. She had lived with her niece Sharon Kunkel and her husband Duane for 20 years. She lived the last 1 ½ years at Westwood nursing home, where she was very well cared for and made many friends.
Her memory will be cherished, but not forgotten by her son Don Scott his wife Pat, niece Sharon Kunkel (husband Duane), niece Lisa Horn, niece Amy Pierce (husband Zack Cook), niece Jodi Crippen (husband Kevin) and many other nieces and nephews, her granddaughter Katie Hoeskstra, 3 great granddaughters, 1 great grandson and sister Phyllis Dicks.
She preceded in death by her son Jerry Stewart, her parents Walter and Madge Scott, sister June Chrestensen (husband Dick), sister Darlene Peterson (husband Harold) and brother Ronald Scott.
