Sotto Babe Virruso, 90, of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 17, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Father Dan Wittrock officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. in Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, with military rites conducted by the South Sioux City American Legion Post 307. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, May 16, 2010, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with Deacon Christopher Virruso, Sr. officiating . Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.comSotto was born in South Sioux City, Nebraska on May 15, 1919 to Joseph Virruso and Serafina Loiacono. He attended South Sioux City School. He served in the Army during WWII. He farmed with Uncle Mike in rural Dakota County, operated heavy equipment for D.A. Davis, Virruso Construction and Olson Demolition. He married Sandra Jackson in 1982.He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the South Sioux City VFW and American Legion Post 307.He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, gardening and hunting.Survivors include his wife, Sandra of South Sioux City, Nebraska; 1 son, Michael Virruso, and his daughters, Alicia and Morgan; 3 daughters, Judy Boling of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and her sons, Mark and Tim, Brenda (Chet) Virruso of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Dawn Virruso of Sioux City, Iowa, and her daughter, Symphony; step-children, Debra (Rodney) Kenowith, and their son, Daniel; Nancy (Michael) Schroeder, and their daughters, Kristen and Kendra; Dawn (Tony) Luce, and their daughter and son, Giavanna and Anthony; 1 brother, Deacon Christopher (Peggy) Virruso of Chicago, Illinois; 1 sister, Jenny (John) Roch of Chicago, Illinois; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.Sotto was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, Margarie Ressegieu and LaVerle Roberts; 2 brothers, Dominick and Joseph; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Ross and Mary Smelcer.A memorial will be established in his name.
