Stanley K. “Stan” Roan, 93, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at a local care facility. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Stanley was born on September 28, 1927 in Sioux City to Thomas and Laura (Schonfelder) Roan. He attended and graduated from Central High School. He served our nation in the United States Army during World War II, during which he was stationed in Japan. On June 28, 1952, he married Dotty M. Lilly in Sioux City. To this union, three children were born. The couple was married for 67 years. Dotty passed away on October 19, 2019.
Stan was a Riverside resident nearly his entire life. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. He was a home builder, and owned Roan Construction for many years; he later finished his career with Larry Book Contracting until his retirement.
He was a 50+ year member of the Masons and the Shriners, was a golfing and fishing enthusiast, and loved to play cribbage.
Stan is survived by his children: Gary Roan (Roxanne) of Sioux City; Larry Roan (Teri) of Sioux City; and Carol Hafkemeyer (Dan) of Springfield, MO; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Roan.
