Stanley H. Sowienski Jr.

March 4, 1949 — January 29, 2021

Stanley Henry Sowienski Jr. was born March 4, 1949, in Jersey City, New Jersey, but moved to Watertown, South Dakota, area shortly after. He spent his younger years living a typical Midwest lifestyle spending a lot of time on his grandparent’s farm.

Stanley moved to Sioux City, Iowa, in 1961, graduating from Central High class of '67. In November 1967, he married Karen Byrne, having two children; Kara and Talon. He has four grandchildren, Zachary, Zoey, Abigail, and Andrew, as well as two great grandchildren, Karter and Jaxon. He is also survived by his younger twin brothers, David and Richard. Stan was preceded in death by his twin brother Daniel.

Stanley had a passion for music and art. He was a skilled musician and loved singing and playing bass guitar alongside his band at a variety of venues for his many fans. "Legs Diamond" became his stage name in 1973 and in 2013 he was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also resided in Denver and Los Angeles, with the opportunity to play with his favorite Doo Wop group, the Del Vikings. Stanley was an avid biker, roaming almost every inch of cement in the Sioux land area. Another hobby he enjoyed was fishing, spending every summer at Bacon Creek fishing with his grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit and his often facetious humor.

Now he's in the rock 'n roll jam session in the sky.

Cremation rites were accorded and no services are planned.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel assisted with arrangements.
