Stephanie L. Bata, 61, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 following a long battle with Lupus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at Mater Dei Parish – Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City, IA. Private graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Stephanie Lynne, the daughter of Rupert and Lucille (Rogue) Lerma, was born October 9, 1961 in Sioux City. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City. In late 1977, Stephanie started dating Thomas “Tom” Bata and they were united in marriage on October 20, 1979 at Immaculate Conception Church. This union was blessed with four daughters and the family made their home in Sioux City.
Throughout the years, Stephanie worked some part-time jobs including Western States, as a bus coordinator for WinnaBingo, and Shopko. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker who was actively involved in all her daughters’ activities. While raising her daughters, Stephanie returned to school and was proud to receive her GED.
Stephanie was a very crafty person who enjoyed adult coloring books, diamond painting, and creating and decorating unique items for her daughters. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, nature, camping, and butterflies. She also took great pride in her “Snazzy Nails” and spent many hours connecting with friends and family through Facebook. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her husband Thomas “Tom” Bata of Sioux City; four daughters: Victoria (Erik) Watkins of Grimes, IA, Jacqueline (Robert Wilson) Bata of Sioux City, Michaela Bata of Sioux City, and Brianna Bata of Sioux City; three grandchildren: Danika Watkins, Evan Fuller, and Alyvia Fuller; four sisters: Patricia Provost of Sioux City, Theresa Lerma of Colorado Springs, CO, Denise Lerma of Dakota City, NE, and Nicole Lerma of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother-in-law, David Kissinger of Sioux City; special friend/sister, Lisa LaCroix of Missoula, MT; special friend/son, Kenneth Clark of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings: Rupert “Chico” Lerma, Armondo Lerma, Laura Kissinger, and Tina Lerma; one brother-in-law, Everett Provost; and two nephews: Terrance Provost and John Lerma; and her beloved dachshund, Max.
