Steven R, Sweisberger

Steven R. Sweisberger, 69 of Sioux City, died on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Unity Point, St. Luke’s Hospital.  A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  Visitation, with family present, will begin at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Steven was born on November 1, 1952 in Sioux City to George and Norma (Russell) Sweisberger.  He received his education in the South Sioux City Public Schools.  Steven married Nancy Solberg on March 17, 1971 in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Steven worked in the janitorial industry throughout his career, including the Brickyard, the Sioux City Foundry, numerous packing plants, and finally Unity Point, St. Luke’s Hospital, from which he retired.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, and taking road trips, but found his greatest joy in spending time with family. 

Steven is survived by his children Stephanie (Steve) Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Arthur Sweisberger, Robert Sweisberger, and Blanch Bateman, all of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Verna (Dave) Frigge of Sioux City; four step-sisters; and numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy in 2012, and step parents Bernice and Albert Stoffer.
