Tammy Christensen Miller

   Tammy M. Christensen Miller, 59, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 following a courageous 8-year battle with breast cancer.

   A Celebration of Life for Tammy will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Elks Lodge, 1001 Tri View Ave., in Sioux City.

   Tammy Mae, the daughter of Alfred and Barbara (Berry) Christensen, was born October 26, 1961 in San Diego, CA.  At age 5, Tammy’s family moved from California to South Dakota.  She grew up and attended school in Jefferson, SD.  She graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1979.  Following high school, she attended W.I.T. where she received her nursing aide degree.   While attending college, she started working at St. Luke’s hospital and this turned into a 33-year career as a GI Tech.  She continued until retiring due to health concerns.  Along with her career, Tammy was a busy mom raising her two daughters, Ragean and Rachel.

   On January 24, 2011, Tammy was united in marriage to James “Jim” Miller in Sioux City.

   Tammy enjoyed traveling to the beaches in Mexico, camping, and socializing with her friends at the Elks Lodge.  She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs fan.  Above all, she cherished spending time with family especially her grandchildren.

   She is survived by her husband Jim of Sioux City; two daughters: Ragean (fiancé Omar Terry) Scott and Rachel (Isidro) Elizondo all of Sioux Falls, SD; her mother Barbara Christensen of Jefferson, SD; one brother Todd (Sharon) Christensen of Jefferson; bonus children: Jamey (Lisa) Miller of Sioux City, Julie (Carlos) Castro of Omaha, NE and Joe (Nikki) Miller of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren: Kyler, Kelan, Ty’sean, Aiyanna, Alix, Aviyana, Edenielson, Elle, Farah, Camden, Caeden, Hannah, Max, Ben and Charlie; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her father Alfred Christensen.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family which will be sent in her memory to Delivering  Hope – Chemo Comfort Bags.
