Teddy Levitsky

Teddy Levitsky passed away in Sioux City, IA, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the age of 87. Teddy, the son of Jack and Dorothy (Rutstein) Levitsky was born on October 8, 1937, in Sioux City. He lived a full life, dedicated to his work, his family, and his passions.

Ted worked alongside his parents at Palace Clothing in Sioux City until his retirement. Even after stepping away from the business, he remained committed to his family, devoting his time to being his parents' caregiver in their later years. This dedication reflected the values instilled in him from a young age, as he grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. Furthering his education, Ted attended Morningside College, also in Sioux City.

Throughout his life, Ted was known for his memorable personality. He possessed a stubbornness that sometimes bordered on feisty, yet it was this spirited nature that underscored his zest for life. An avid sports fan, he reveled in the thrill of competition, particularly enjoying the games of the New York Giants Football, the San Francisco Giants Baseball, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ted was a familiar face at local sports events, especially at North High in Sioux City and the Sioux City Explorers Baseball games, where he was known by all the fans.

His engaging personality extended beyond sports; he was a master of call-ins for radio competitions, often emerging victorious with his keen sense of timing and strategy. Ted was also a devoted member of Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City, embodying the values of community and connection that were essential to his life.

Ted is survived by some close friends who have been a significant part of his journey, offering support throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jack and Dorothy Levitsky.
