Terry P. Prince Jr., 85, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the funeral home. Following services at the funeral home, everyone is invited to Prince's Tavern (1920 Center St.) to continue celebrating Terry's life.
Terry, the son of Terry P. Prince Sr. and Lorena (Speck) Prince was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 24, 1938. Terry attended Heelan High School graduating in 1957. He served 8 years in the Navy Reserves and attended the University of Iowa for 2 years.
Terry began a long career in the meat business eventually owning his own business, P&P Trading.
In 1980, Terry took over running the family business, Prince’s Tavern, whom his parents started July 4, 1963. Terry and his wife, Joan, whom he married on September 19, 1996, successfully operated Prince’s Tavern for 40 plus years.
Terry’s hobbies included boating, motorcycle riding, golfing, and car races. Terry also was a proud sponsor of Briar Cliff sports, especially the men and women’s basketball programs.
Terry is survived by his wife Joan of 26 years; sons Jim Prince of St. Clair, MO, Jeff (Gina) Prince of McKinney, TX, and Joe (Carolyn) Prince of Maxwell, IA; daughter Joan Frost of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Pat Capron of Sioux City; sister-in-law Joy (Jim) Ford of Ankeny, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie, in-laws Betty and Oscar Nassiff, and special brother-in-law Denny Capron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
